Post Partum and Parenting Support

When Gloria gave birth to her son, she didn't get any help apart from her husband given that all her relatives lived in Italy whilst she was based in the UK. Despite she eventually managed to go through the first few months on her own, she realised how much she underestimated the value of someone else's help and how much she would have loved to have some support.

When she started her training to become a doula, she was determined to become the kind of person she would have loved to have by her side when she was a new mum: someone experienced, capable, knowledgeable, someone who can give the right information, who can point you to the right direction if you need any specific help, someone who can answer your questions without giving you the unsolicited advices that sometimes can only cause stress and frustration. Someone who can also do simple things such as holding your hand, passing you a glass of water or preparing you a nutritious snack while you are breastfeeding, or helping you cleaning the bottles if your baby is on formula. Someone you can trust who can stay with your baby while you take a much needed nap. Someone who, together with professionality, can do extremely simple but hugely valuable things like cooking a meal for your whole family or even play a little bit with your other children while you spend some one-to-one time bonding with your newborn (or viceversa). Someone who can come with you for a walk if you are a first time mother and you don't feel ready to go out on your own with a baby yet.

Someone who can help you feeling less vulnerable: it doesn't matter how much knowledge you have, postpartum (and parenting) can be challenging and a friendly reminder that you are doing great is sometimes all you need (talking from personal experience here).

A post natal doula should be assigned to every woman, because every mama needs this kind of support.

Gloria also mixes her very long experience in working with children in various settings, her professional knowledge in postpartum and the postnatal phase and her personal experience as a parent to help supporting new parents on a multilevel basis.
