Mind-body Movement for Dancers

Gloria began artistic gymnastics training at the age of 3 and a few years later she moved into dance (ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary) . After receiving her diploma as a Dance Teacher at I.D.A. in 2009, she started her career whilst also continuing her studies abroad in NYC and around Europe.

As a teacher and educator, ever since her very first day at work in 2009, she has been focused on teaching her students the importance of the warm up and of the conditioning exercises, as well as the connection with music, with the space around us and with the connection with our mind and soul.

After becoming a certified Pilates Teacher and Fitness Instructor, she started to become even more interested in how to help her students to improve while preserving the body in the best way possible. She attended several courses and workshops about body conditioning, technique improvement, injury prevention and rehabilitation, etc. She then started to work with her own students, developing her own method and approach, "The Fusion Method for Dancers": she was lucky enough to teach at several and different schools, so she had to work with a variety of dancers, from students attending pre-professional courses to amateur students attending dance classes once a week, from very flexible dancers (former gymnasts) to students who weren't born with a natural en-dehor.

Since 2014 she has been invited to be a guest teacher at several schools and academies in Europe (Northern Ballet in Leeds, Spirit YPC, Reynolds, to name a few), at many public events such as Move It in London since 2015 and at the main Capezio store in Covent Garden in 2016 (as well as taking over the main Capezio Instagram page in 2020 during the lockdown to teach live classes) . Her mission is to teach students (professional or not) how to move their body properly, not only to improve the dance technique (ballet, contemporary, jazz etc) but most importantly to prevent injuries and pain: all this remembering that every body is different and needs different things and, potentially, a different approach, so she adapts her classes to what the students she has in class need on that very day, in that very situation.

This method aims at helping dancers using a multi-level approach, mixing body movement with mindfulness and breathing techniques, evolving the connection between mind and body (which, ultimately, enhances dancers' resistance/endurance) as well as the connection with the space and the music (this is beneficial in term of body awareness but also from an artistic point of view).

Gloria's workshops and masterclasses are always a treat for dancers so that they can keep progressing on their own after the class, learning tips and getting advice personalised for any need, goal or wish, all this in order to achieve a longer, healthier career.
